Deadlines for Seniors and Parents
by Mary Ann Tingelhoff
College-bound seniors need to get serious about completing the Federal Financial Aid form - the application for state, federal and college-specific financial aid. February is typically the time to apply as many colleges have a March 1 priority filing date. The EducationQuest Foundation has a very useful tool section at www.educationquest.org. This tool will provide user-friendly clarification of each question on the form.
Each senior should have narrowed down their college choices. Applications for colleges should have already been completed and sent in. This pertains to either a two year or four year college.
Scholarship applications have been placed in each senior's file that is located in Mrs. Tingelhoff's office. It would be a good idea for parents to ask their child if they have filled out the scholarship applications that they are qualified for. These files are updated weekly. Parents and students need to work on these together. It is very difficult to receive any scholarship money if the student will not take the time to complete the forms.
