18th-Century Artifacts for the Classroom
by Sue Svoboda
The fifth grade has been learning about the Revolutionary War. They have learned about the causes and several of the battles. The class has also learned about the uniforms of the French, British, and the Colonists. They have learned that part of the Colonist's uniform was a Haversack. Each soldier carried one of these canvas bags that held a variety of things needed for battle and daily life, and things they could use during "down time" between fights.
