PARENTS - PLEASE NOTE
by Mary Ann Tingelhoff
If you have a son/daughter that is a senior you need to encourage them to complete applications for college, meet financial aid deadlines and make sure they have submitted scholarship applications to meet those deadlines. There have been scholarship applications and financial aid information put in their files in my office weekly. All have deadlines that have to be met so you need to make sure that they are checking their files. Many of the applications are online and that information has been given to the student. I would appreciate your cooperation.
We are in the process of starting to register for classes for next year and it is very important that you encourage your son/daughter to take classes that will best prepare them for their life endeavors. The best way to do this is to take as much English, math, social sciences, science and foreign language that they can to meet college or work requirements. Juniors and seniors that qualify to take college credit classes should be encouraged to enroll in those. It is a great cost savings for parents when their child can receive college credit while in high school. I hear from some students that they want an easy senior year but that does not help them when they go on to college or into the work force. Curriculum is the best way to prepare students for the future. Again we need to have the help of all parents to stress the importance of good education.
