Safety Security Plan
Emergency Procedures
by Dan Cleveland
Dear Parents/Guardians:
Cedar Bluffs Schools has developed a Safety/Security Plan that is designed to minimize danger to students and school staff should an emergency occur. Our main objective is to attend to the health and welfare of our students in the event of a crisis. In most emergencies, your son/daughter will remain and be cared for at the school until he/she can be safely released or transported home. In the event of an emergency that prohibits re-entry to the school building, students will be escorted to a safe alternative location and you will be notified on release/transportation procedures. We ask that you follow this procedure when you learn of a school emergency:
A. Turn on your radio or TV. We will try to convey information to parents via KFAB (Omaha) at 1110 AM and KHUB (Fremont) at 1340 AM or KETV Channel 7.
B. Please DO NOT try to telephone the school. We have limited phone lines and these must be used to respond to the emergency.
C. Please DO NOT come to the school unless you are requested to pick up your child.
An emergency involving the school may mean that emergency vehicles and workers must be able to get to the building. Traffic control at the school site is crucial. We will inform you as soon as possible via radio and other means as to when and where to pick up your student. You may want to put this information inside your telephone book or in some other prominent place in your home.
Thank you for your cooperation.
