Jon Critser- Industrial Technology
by Jon Critser
September 17, 2009
I began my teaching career in 1999 after
earning my Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology from Peru
State College (aka Harvard of the Plains). My first two years, I
taught at Wymore Southern. In 2001, I accepted a position at Cedar
Bluffs Public Schools. I really enjoy teaching and coaching at
Cedar Bluffs because the school board, administration, parents,
students, community, and surrounding area businesses have been very
supportive of what we are trying to teach our students. In 2005, I
earned my Master’s degree in Industrial Technology from Wayne State
College. I am currently the head Junior High Football Coach and
Co-FBLA sponsor.
We have excellent facilities for
students to work hands-on with the latest technology. Most of the
equipment in the lab is from 2001 or newer; our students should
have the best and latest technology in the classroom. With this
comes responsibility from our students to help take care of our
equipment to keep it in great working condition for others to use.
I feel if we have the latest technology in the lab, students might
have an advantage when they venture into the workforce or college.
In 2009, through the assistance of a $10,000 Fremont Area Community
Foundation grant, the Cedar Bluffs School Board, and area
businesses we were able to purchase a CNC Laser Engraver. The Laser
Engraver has been an awesome learning tool for our students and
they are eager to use it in their projects and other projects
around school, such as making our own plaques for the Sports
Banquet and Awards Night. We have been able to not only use it in
my classes but other teachers have been able to use the Laser
Engraver as well. It has given our students the opportunity to
learn firsthand about a current process used in manufacturing.
Below you will find a list of the current classes that we offer
in my area:
7th and 8th grade Exploratory
7th and 8th grade Woodworking
Mechanical Drafting
Computer Aided Design

Advanced Woodworking
