Janelle Stansberry - Business & Computers

Ms. Janelle Stansberry began teaching at Cedar Bluffs High School in the Fall of 1985. She is a graduate of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and Wayne College. She majored in Business and Secondary Education.

Ms. Stansberry chose to teach because she felt that she had a gift in working with high school students. She also wanted to be able to influence her students in the same way that her teachers had influenced her. Ms. Stansberry teaches our Computers I, II, III, and IV classes, Accounting I and II,  Personal Finance, Keyboarding, and Career Academy classes. In 2001, she received the Milken Family Award for teaching. Mrs. Stansberry also coaches high school volleyball.

She believes that the most difficult aspect of being a teacher is seeing the social influences on the children she teaches. “Society today sends so many mixed and wrong messages to kids – it makes it hard for them to determine what it means to be a person of good character”.

Ms. Stansberry hopes to accomplish many things as a teacher. She wants her students to have fun while learning and that they accept responsibility for their actions. In addition, she wants students to realize that with the technology available to them that learning can take place any time – anywhere.  Ms. Stansberry states that while the content she teaches is important, it is the habits that students develop as learners and citizens that are the most important attributes that they take away from her classroom.   She also hopes that the seniors she has taught leave feeling confident in their technical skills.
