I am very pleased to report that our current student enrollment is above the student count from last school year! Word is getting around about the benefits Cedar Bluffs Public School offers for all students that can’t be found in other schools. From College Credit Tuition programs, to cutting edge technology instruction, to individual academic attention, and participation in many extra curricular activities, Cedar Bluffs School can’t be beat! We continue to ask for your help in letting families know that Cedar Bluffs Public School would be a great choice for their children.
The school applied for and won a Clean Diesel Grant from the Department of Environmental Quality. The grant’s purpose was to replace older high emissions diesel equipment with lower emission equipment. The grant provided the school with $16,322.98 to trade in our 17-year-old bus for a newer model bus. With this grant the school was able to purchase a new 31 passenger International school bus.
If you have visited the elementary school and looked up, you may have noticed several water damaged areas in the ceiling. The elementary roof was repaired in 2007, but before that there were a number of leaks that had happened over the years (the elementary is now 40 years old). In addition, some of the ceiling material contains asbestos which makes any repairs more complicated. We are currently researching a number of ways to address this problem and, if possible, hope to get something done to the ceiling during the summer break.
As this school year continues to fly by, I want to thank the staff, parents, students, and community for all you do to make this a great place to live and work, and a great place for kids to grow up!
