FBLA Members Donate Their Services During the Holiday Season

Over this past holiday season, the FBLA members donated many hours of service to several special activities: Bake and Take, Giving Tree, Gift Wrapping for the Giving Tree, Crisis Center Festival of Trees, and Salvation Army Bell Ringing. Numerous chapter members also donated many gifts to our local Angel Tree, providing to needy families.
The holiday season was kicked off by members donating their time and warmth to bell ringing for the Salvation Army. Our FBLA chapter had thirty members who dared the cold to bell ring. Each shift a member signed up for lasted for two hours of bell ringing – some were inside locations – but most of the sites were outside. Many people commended and praised our members on taking part in this very worthwhile cause during the holiday season. Chapter members also made many generous donations to the Angel Tree and the Crisis Center Festival of Trees with kitchen utensils. Two trees were donated from our school. Needless to say, we were very pleased when we were informed that our trees raised the most money.
During the holiday season, Saturdays are usually spent shopping. However, not for the FBLA bunch! On Saturday, December 19th, at nine in the morning, the Cedar Bluffs High School FBLA chapter held its first annual, “Bake and Take”. Members donated supplies and their time for a fun activity with the youth in our community. Over 50 kids were in attendance, and over 200 cookies and pretzels were decorated. The finished products, were boxed up and sent to the Crisis Center, Care Corp, and the Masonic Home. Senior Natalie B. was the delivery woman. When she arrived at Care Corp, two employees said, “These are so cute! Our people will love them!” We also sent a box of cookies to the Cedar Bluffs Senior Citizen Center. This activity was a great new tradition started by the Cedar Bluffs High School FBLA chapter.
On behalf of the Cedar Bluffs High School FBLA chapter, we would like to thank the H.S.O. for donating supplies to make all of these activities possible and for helping provide a wonderful Christmas for many individuals and families.
