First Grade News February 2010

We are ready to start level 5 in reading. Each week students have new vocabulary words to learn and practice. They will also be bringing home some of the stories to practice. The extra practice at home helps a great deal. Keep up the great work! We celebrated Valentine’s Day on February 14. The kids shared cards and candy. They thought of many things to say and do to show how to be a good friend. We try to remember to treat our classmates the way we want to be treated. We always appreciate the nice treats our room mothers bring for holidays. Thank You!! We continue to have a Spelling Test each week. I try to follow the same pattern each week. The list goes home on Monday, we do a different activity each day of the week to practice, and the test is on Friday. The words relate to what we are doing in reading and phonics. Some kids need to review the words at home to do well on the test.
