State Champions!!!!!!!!

Cheer and Dance Teams achieve success at STATE!!!!!!

We all sat on the huge gym floor waiting to hear the winner.  It was nerve racking.  We held hands, and each time we heard a different schools name called, first for honorable mention and then for second place, our breath would catch.  This was it, all or nothing.  Either we lose and go home with nothing, or they call our name and we go home State Champions!  Butterflies fluttered in our stomachs, and our hands shook nervously.  “And the winner is… “We held our breath.  “…Cedar Bluffs!”

This weekend, Cedar Bluffs’ Cheer and Dance squads went to Grand Island to compete in the State Championships.  We got to the Grand Island Heartland Events Center around three, an hour before the cheerleaders went on to perform.  After stretching, practicing, and getting our photo taken, it was time for the Cheerleaders to go on.  They were about to perform in front of 35 schools worth of cheerleaders, dancers, coaches, and family members.  Needless to say they were nervous.  But, once we walked onto the court, the nerves just flew out the window, and our performance was nearly flawless! The dancers performed later that night at eight.  They did a great job, and were without doubt one of the best teams there. (This is evident by their runner-up trophy.)   They’re dance was perfect, everyone smiled, and I like to think that our crowd for them was easily the loudest.  

In the end, our Cheer squad took home State Champion, and our Dance squad took home State Runner-Up.  It was definitely a day to remember, and an experience of a lifetime.  We’ve decided that next year, we’ll be just as successful, and bring back more State Champion trophies to line the shelves with.  After all, someone in the Cheer and Dance competition has too.
