The fourth grade students recently took a trip to Midland Lutheran College in Fremont to join other fourth grade students in celebrating Nebraska's birthday. The Nebraska Secretary of State, John Gale, was the host. Students were entertained by two folk singers that sang pioneer songs for us. One of the entertainers played a saw for us. They showed us the instruments that pioneers would have used. They sure were creative. The students were also quizzed on their Nebraska History knowledge. We have some pretty smart fourth graders. Each school made a poster to show their school spirit. Each school stood up and showed their poster. We sang Happy Birthday to Nebraska and blew out the candles and cut the cake. Each student got to enjoy a treat on the way out. It was a neat experience. Happy Birthday Nebraska!
