Tax Exempt Giving         "For the Children of the District"

THE CONCEPTION: CEDAR BLUFFS PUBLIC SCHOOLS FOUNDATION

Beginning September 2006, The Cedar Bluffs Public Schools Foundation was established.

RELATIONSHIP TO THE LINCOLN COMMUNITY FOUNDATION

The Lincoln Community Foundation (LCF) is used as a flow through of monies for the Cedar Bluffs Public Schools Foundation. The decision to use the LCF was made due to the costs and massive paperwork to establish a "stand alone" organization. The LCF receive one (1%) percent of all proceeds to our foundation in exchange for their services.

The Cedar Bluffs Public Schools Foundation is qualified as an Expendable Advised Type II Fund. All contributions qualify as "tax exempt" status. With each gift, the LCF will send to the donor a statement detailing the information necessary for the preparation of taxes. Presently, the Cedar Bluffs Public Schools Foundation is in the process of application to garner 501 ( c ) ( 3) status.

ORGANIZATION

The Cedar Bluffs Public Schools Foundation is in the process of developing governing by-laws and guidelines for the organization. Some general guidelines have been discussed and agreed upon by members of the board of education. Any interested parties may be considered to be a member of the Board of Directors of the organization. Please contact Superintendent Joel Bohlken if you may be interested.

PURPOSE

The Cedar Bluffs Public Schools Foundation has been established for the benefit of the children of the school district.

While the guidelines and by-laws are in the formative stages, general guidelines have been considered. To supplement and/or fund educational endeavors of the students attending the public school of Cedar Bluffs. These endeavors may include, but not exclusive to:

* Scholarship(s) for graduating seniors of CBHS

* Special curricular activities or projects for student benefit

* Technological expenditures beyond federal grants

* Other expenditures associated to programs/activities/projects that the general fund cannot fund

WHAT THE FUNDS ARE NOT FOR: The foundation assets are NOT to be used to supplement costs associated to salary, wages and benefits of employees. Nor will funds be expended for the operation of the facilities or other funds associated to day-to-day expenditures of the general fund.

We are open to new ideas. Presently, we are soliciting information from other districts that have already established foundations for ideas of organization and use of the foundation's receipts.

RECOGNITION

Those individuals, organizations or businesses that contribute to the Cedar Bluffs Public Schools Foundation may receive special recognition for their contribution(s).
