Fourth Grade Native American Feast

by Missy Shanahan
January 22, 2009

The fourth grade students really enjoyed the Native American Unit.  I was proud of the posters and presentations they made in their tribes.  To end the unit we sat down and enjoyed a feast.  The students decorated paper sacks with Native American symbols.  They then wrinkled up the bags to make them look like buffalo hides.  We used these as plates for our feast.  We enjoyed dried meat, apple juice, biscuits, and cheese.  We listened to Native music while we feasted and read some Native American poetry.  It was a fun ending for a unit that they worked so hard on.
