Superintendent Weekly Press Release November 13, 2020

Dear Cedar Bluffs Families,

COVID RISK LEVEL: ORANGE

For the Week of November 23rd, the COVID risk dial moves further into Orange from a 3.13 to 3.25. Please remember that even in RED (3.50) we are going to continue with “in person” education as long as we are able to provide this safely. Dodge and Washington counties both went up from 3.00 to 3.25. Saunders county stayed the same at 3.38.

Interesting developments this past week as the NSEA which represents all teachers in the State of Nebraska asked the Governor for a Statewide Mask Mandate and to postpone all student activities until after the new year. The Governor in response put out a new DHM model that is primarily based off of hospital capacity as seen below:

PLEASE NOTE: If we get into the RED column, all sports and school activities for students under high school age will be suspended. This includes our middle school and youth sports programs.

TOTAL POSITIVE: 14-Students, 28-Parent(s)/Family Members, 15-Staff

THIS WEEK POSITIVE: 0-Students, 2-Parent(s)/Family Members, 0-Staff    CURRENT QUARANTINE: 33

For Cedar Bluffs Public School this week, we have 1 staff member out who is currently awaiting test results because of a close contact. As a staff we now have everyone back except those on maternity leave and 2 still in quarantine. We saw 2 family members test positive this week, which resulted in quarantines of their students and we currently have 3 other family members with their students quarantined awaiting results. Also, we had 4 students who have been tested this week with 2 who are symptomatic and the other 2 testing due to a close contact. Those results are not back at this time, but all of these students are in quarantine.  As a whole we now have 31 students and 2 staff members in quarantine down from last week’s number of 43 with many scheduled to return the week of Thanksgiving break or the Monday following. #WildcatPride
