Superintendent Press Release April 5, 2024

Dear Cedar Bluffs Families,

The countdown has begun only 19 more days with our Seniors, and just 29 days until summer break. For those who might not know, we offer a summer school program, and our after-school program will be available most days throughout the summer. Additionally, our daycare will maintain regular hours aligned with summer school days. Middle and High school students can also take advantage of summer sports camps, weightlifting, and academic support classes. We'll continue to operate bus routes to Fremont daily for those who need them. Please talk to your child about all the opportunities available this summer.

As for the upcoming school year, we hope the new link connecting the auxiliary gym and cafeteria will be open by August. We've also invested in architectural services to redesign the previous cafeteria space into new classrooms.

In terms of staffing changes, we have some new faces and roles for the next academic year. While more details about new teachers will come in a later newsletter, I can share that Ms. Rogge, who lives in Blair, has accepted a teaching position there, and Ms. Alie Pyle will be taking her place. Mrs. Pittack has accepted a new job in Elkhorn, and Mrs. Jace Forker, who has been teaching in Chambers, Nebraska, will replace her. We're also excited to welcome Ms. Megan Nielsen, a former Cedar Bluffs Alum, to our Special Education staff. Mr. Jacob Kasik is joining us from Wisner Pilger to replace Ms. McEvoy and will bring additional media expertise to the library/media position as a certified art instructor with strong technology skills. Ms. May, who has been teaching in Columbus for the past 5 years, will take over high school English from Mr. Jaeckel. Additionally, Mr. Murren, who has been teaching Business classes in Leigh-Clarkson for the past 7 years, will be added as an additional full-time substitute. Mrs. Chrisman will transition to elementary principal, Mr. Hansen will assume the role of Director of Learning, and Mr. Brinkman, who has obtained his principal endorsement, will assist Mrs. Headid in the high school while continuing as athletic director. Lastly, we're excited to welcome Mrs. Shannon Lubker as our new JAG instructor. JAG stands for Jobs for American Graduates, a federally supported program similar to our Career Academy. Mrs. Lubker will oversee career internships, classes on careers, and skill readiness, and we're thrilled to start this new program. JAG was founded to be a high-impact force for change in boosting genuine equality of outcomes in education, job, and life, and has proven to be one of the "great equalizers" in America. Many students need support at this critical point so that they can successfully transition into "what's next".
