Superintendent Press Release April 28, 2023

Dear Cedar Bluffs Families,

May is upon us! - With that all the end of year celebrations, programs, and promotions. We are so proud of our students and what they have accomplished. Looking at early reporting of academic progress Cedar Bluffs Elementary is outperforming all area schools on State Testing. This year’s Junior class also performed outstandingly on the State required ACT test, with a combined average that exceeded the State Composite Score of 19.4. This year’s high score from Cedar Bluffs on the ACT was a tie between 2 students who scored a 31 in English and the other a 31 in Reading. All but 5 students scored above 20 in at least one content area of the ACT test that is made up of Math, Science, English, and Reading.

One of the really neat things that happen in the last weeks of school from our Career Academy is the Internship presentations where our students present to a pretty large audience including their internship partners what they learned during their time with the company. Many of the students are offered jobs at the conclusion of their internship and some are even given full ride scholarships to a college to get trained with the promise to return to that job after college graduation.

The Cedar Bluffs Class of 2023 which includes just 17 students will graduate having collectively earned over 100 hours of College Credit, which includes Certificates in Welding from Southeast Community College and Certified Nursing Assistant Certificates from Metro Community College.  The Cedar Bluffs Career Academy recognizes seven students for completion of their appropriate pathways, three in Health Sciences, one in Skilled and Technical Sciences, one in IT/Communications, one in Education, and one in Business. They also recognize the completion of several Certificates completed in OSHA Safety and Forklift Operation.  Beyond their abilities in Career Readiness, these Seniors were also offered over $500,000 in Scholarships, including three Board of Regents Scholarships and the Pinnacle Bank Outstanding Leadership Scholarship. Several students are also continuing their athletic careers and will be participating in athletics at the College Level. Cedar Bluffs students also focus on Service Leadership throughout their high school careers. This year’s Cedar Bluffs graduates have collectively completed over 700 hours of Community Service in a variety of areas. Congratulations to the 2023 Cedar Bluffs Graduating Class!
