Superintendent Press Release December 8, 2023

Dear Cedar Bluffs Families,

This is my final newsletter for 2023. I hope you have a very enjoyable and restful Holiday break.

When students return on January 8th, we will be in our new building but the link connecting the buildings will not be done and under construction. Busses will be using the new bus loop (in blue on the picture below) to drop students off in the morning for breakfast in the new building. This is not a parent drive through and is intended only for the busses and staff. Parents dropping students off for breakfast should drop them off in designated parking spots along main street. We hope to put several drop off spots in front of each of the entrances including Middle/High School, Daycare, Elementary and PreSchool. Elementary student that are dropped off can go to their classrooms to store their items and then use the orange walkway to get the new building for breakfast. Middle and High School students will continue to get breakfast where they always have and have the same routine. The new parking lot is designated for staff only from 7am until 4pm which will open up the additional parking spots in front of the school along main street for parents and visitors. Please avoid stopping in the street to drop your child off. Again, please pull into the parking spots as there should be ample designated parking spots for drop off and pick up. Student drivers are asked to continue to park on the East side of the school on King Street and the north side of the building on Elm Street.  All elementary students will begin their morning in the new building and our staff will walk them over to their classrooms after breakfast. If students are driving or walking from homes in Cedar Bluffs, we would ask that you use the “orange” sidewalks on the picture below to enter the new building so no one will need to walk on the bus lanes, through the new parking lot or construction area.

Furthermore, please do NOT parallel park on Main Street between First Street and Park Street indicated with the red X’s on the picture. Our busses have a very hard time maneuvering around the new bus loop when vehicles are lined up along these streets. Again, our hope is with all the teachers parking in the new parking lot there will be ample places for parents to park in parking stalls in front of the school.

Also of note, next week we will be ordering in food on Thursday and Friday so we can shut the kitchen down a little early in preparation for the move. Next Thursday we will be serving Subway sandwiches and Friday we have Gambino’s pizza.

And don’t forget - Friday is an early out at 1:30pm!   Wildcat Pride!
