Superintendent Press Release January 13, 2023

Dear Cedar Bluffs Families,

Welcome back to school!

I hope you have a rejuvenating and restful holiday break. Unfortunately, at the school we had a fire sprinkler gasket fail and the vocational building flooded with about 2” of water on Christmas day throughout the hallways, classrooms, and offices. It has taken the entire break including January 9th as we finished putting the rooms back together to get everything ready for the return of students. Luckily, we have some great contractors who were willing to work on weekends that allowed us to stay on scheduled and open on time. From drying, cleaning, replacing drywall, painting and carpets all accomplished in 15 days over the break; it was a huge undertaking. We were even able to get moisture and mold testing done to assure our students and staff that air quality was safe as they returned to school.

Also, over the break we have had a change in our high school athletics program as Mr. Dunker has decided to step down as the varsity girls head coach to focus on his health, wellbeing, and other professional commitments. We cannot thank Mr. Dunker enough for all the countless hours he has committed to this team over the past 4 years, and we appreciate his efforts in making this a seamless transition. Moving forward Coach Crystal Loch and Coach Justice Brinkman will serve as interim co-head coaches for the remainder of the season. Both Coach Loch and Coach Brinkman have numerous years of coaching experience, and both have previous college playing experience.

 Have a great weekend!
