Principal Ben Hansen states, “Tammy was not only a great person but a great teacher. The teaching profession is not easy and the challenges that kids bring to the table over the course of a school year are countless, but Tammy always found a way to connect with her students. Many teachers are great in many ways, but Tammy was special. Her kindness, patience, compassion, and care for her students ran deep. No matter how challenging a student was, or how difficult a class, she remained poised and always worked to figure out how to personally connect with a student. She was able to do this because students truly felt loved and cared for by her. Tammy could often be seen with an arm around a student, a high five being given, or even tear up with pride when sharing something a student accomplished. She was born to be a teacher and had the personal intangibles that made her able to connect with kids beyond content and made them feel safe, secure and loved. She was a model employee who worked hard, took pride in being a teacher, did what she was asked and was constantly trying to improve. It is a tremendous loss to our school and she will be greatly missed for many years to come.”
