It was a HOT one last night at the parade! Great showing by the band and cheer team!

The evenings of the week of July 31st through August 3rd are going to be quite busy for the members of the junior high and high school cross country teams and their families!
On Monday, University of Nebraska Cornhuskers Elli Dahl and Nolan Miller will be at Camp Calvin Crest beginning at 7 PM. The two Husker cross country runners will focus upon all the skills necessary to become a successful distance runner. Parents are encouraged to follow along on the course while Elli and Nolan demonstrate and critique the runners.
On Tuesday, we will hold our one- and two-mile time trials at Camp Calvin Crest. Phil Lutz, from Fremont Health's Sports Medicine Department will introduce/review our team's dynamic and static stretch ritual. While the time trials are taking place, Phil will visit with parents and guardians about the services provided by the Fremont Health's Sports Medicine Department. The time trials are key to setting up our first week of practice which begins on Monday, August 7th for high school and the first day of school for our junior high runners.
On Wednesday, Matt Matzner will hold two seminars at the school. From 7:00 - 7:45 Matt will visit with parents about the role they play in their child's nutrition. From 7:45 - 8:30 Matt will visit with the runners. He will focus upon the right foods to eat at school as well as race day nutrition. Matt is currently an assistant sports dietitian for the University of Nebraska - Lincoln's athletic department.
On Thursday evening, Ann Ringlein from the Lincoln Running Company and former assistant coach at Nebraska Wesleyan University will be at our school to talk about the most important equipment a cross country runner needs...shoes! She will present to the parents from 7:30 - 8 followed by the runners from 8:00-8:30.
It is not too late to be a member of the 2023 Wildcat Cross Country team at either the junior high or senior high level!

High School Football Parent Meeting will be Tuesday August 1st at 6:15pm in the high school English Room. This is for all students and parents grades 9-12 interested in playing football this coming school year. Any questions please contact Coach Kotrous at kiefer.kotrous@cbwildcats.org

This summer over 20 students participated in our annual Pounding the Pavement adventure.
The students in Pounding the Pavement logged nearly 50 miles, 100,000+ steps on their trip to Washington D.C! Some of the highlights of the trip included the monuments, White House, Capitol Building, Arlington Cemetery, Ford’s Theatre, Embassy Row, and various Smithsonian Museums! Within the Capitol Building in Statutory Hall we found our state’s two statues guarding the entrance: Author Willa Cather and Chief Standing Bear of the Ponca Tribe.
We would like to recognize the businesses and organizations that helped our students have an incredible educational experience that they will never forget.
Please let these businesses and organizations know you appreciate their support of the students that participate in our program: American Legion Post #158, Cheever Construction, Community State Bank, Barrett Contracting, Electritech LLC, MIOWN Fuel Company, and SECO Electric.
